Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art

Located within the Bellagio Hotel/Casino, this small gallery has a wonderful collection of art from master painters such as Picasso and Van Gogh. These works of art are for sale and so the collection is liable to change. Open 10:00am-10:00pm daily (including holidays) 9:00am-10:00 Sat & Sun. Admission is $12.00 per person. Tickets may be purchased in advance.

The Bellagio Fountains soar as high as 240 feet in the air. Shows are choreographed to music. Performances every half-hour 3:00pm-6:00pm Mon-Fri and noon-6:00pm Sat & Sun. After 6:00pm shows run every 15 minutes. Show takes place in the Bellagio lakefront and is free.

This 240,000 square-foot Roman-Empire theme shopping mall houses mainly upscale shops but the structure of the mall itself is interesting to see. Watch the painted sky on the ceiling change from sunrise to sunset and back again. Walk down the recreated ancient Roman streets to the Festival Fountain where statues of Bacchus and his entourage come alive complete with laser show and dancing waters starting at 10:00am. and running hourly. There is also a large state-of-the-art video arcade, 3-D Imax motion ride and a branch of Planet Hollywood in the mall. Most establishments open 10:00am-11:00pm weekdays 10:00am-12:00am Fri & Sat.

Is located in the Forum Shops and has the first IMAX 3-D motion simulator ride in the United States. This thrill ride takes you through Atlantis on a frantic search for the secret to the city's salvation. Open Sun-Thurs from 10:00am-11:00pm and 10:00am-midnight Fri & Sat.

This is a 5 acre indoor amusement and water park including a corkscrew roller coaster, water flume rides, and animated dinosaurs. Hours are varied. Admission is $4 which includes one large ride and two small rides . An unlimited ride pass is $16.95 for adults and $12.95 for kids 33-47 inches tall, smaller kids admitted free. Discounted admission for Nevada residents, military personnel with ID and senior citizens.

Dansey's Indoor Race Track

Dansey's offers Las Vegas' only indoor racetrack for radio-controlled cars. Open (for practice) from 10:00am-9:00pm daily. Actual races are held 6:30pm Tues and Fri and at 5:00pm Sun. Cost is $15 per hour to rent cars or $7 for the entire day if you bring your own.

Desert Demonstration Gardens

With more than 1,000 species of plants in 11 theme gardens, the Desert Demonstration Gardens dispel the belief that desert landscaping is limited to rock and cacti. Operated by the Water District, these gardens are dedicated to educate the public about water conservation through water efficient landscaping. Kids should also enjoy the nightly jousting tournaments A battle between Merlin the magician and a Dragon, takes place daily in the hotel moat, every hour on the hour from dusk to midnight, weather permitting.

At Court Jesters stage, find musicians, juggling, stories and puppet shows. Daily, 10:00am-11:00pm. Merlin's Magic Motion Machines combine 70mm film, five-channel Dolby stereo sound and specially designed moving seats that move with the on-screen action. The theater simulates being on a roller coaster or in the Swiss Alps on a runaway train. Open 9:00am-12:45am daily. Admission is $3 per ride.

Flyaway Indoor Skydiving

Experience the thrill of skydiving indoors. For $35 (per flight) and approximately one hour you can learn to Body Fly. This includes a 20 minute training class, all the necessary equipment and a 15 minute flight session shared by 5 flyers. Tunnel flying is an athletic activity. Minors are required to have a parent or guardian present in class. Height and weight need to be in proportion.

You will find the newly renovated area of Downtown Las Vegas in this outdoor mall setting bordered by casinos on both sides and covered by a 1,500 foot long, 90 foot high canopy. The look of Downtown has definitely been changed, but the neon and famous casinos are still there. The canopy comes alive with laser and light shows every hour from dusk until 11:00pm. Live music on some weekend nights.

Sega "Virtualand" is a 18,000 square foot arcade which houses four separate areas with state of the art equipment to experience the "virtual reality" of aerial dogfights, flight and car racing; Open 10:00am-11:00pm; Cost is $4.00 for each ride.

MGM Grand Adventures

Located to the rear of the MGM Hotel, this theme park is on more than 33 acres and includes ten specialty shops, eight restaurants, two theaters and nine theme area streets ("New Orleans Street, Olde England Street"). Be sure to get the free map or you may get lost!

There are 12 different attraction/rides including the newest "Skyscreamer" the world's tallest sky coaster which reaches speeds of 70 mph, is 250 feet above the ground and is a cross between skydiving and hang gliding. Open daily from 10:00am-6:00pm. Tickets, which include all show and rides are $15 general admission , $10 senior citizens, and children under 12 and military personnel. There is a $2 discount for Nevada residents with proper ID. Currently, there is NO charge to stroll through the park and take a look.

Mirage

Besides the Erupting Volcano in front of the Mirage which erupts every 15 minutes from dusk to midnight, take a guided 15 minute tour of the Dolphin Habitat which cost $14 million and holds 2.5 million gallon saltwater. Open daily 11:00am-7:00pm; $3 per person, children under 10 years old free.
Siegfried & Roy's White Tigers; can be seen in their open-air habitat daily, open 24 hours. The Secret Garden is home to Siegfried & Roy's rare and exotic animals. The admission fee of $10 also includes admission to the Dolphin habitat which is located off of the hotel's main pools.

Star Trek: The Experience

Located in the Las Vegas Hilton, this 70 million dollar project caters to Star Trek and science-fiction fans, but there is something interesting for just about everyone. Simulator rides aboard a replica of the USS Enterprise thrill the kiddies and a space-themed casino, bar and restaurant awaits adults. Open 11:00am-11:00pm, General admission is $15.95 per person.


Stratosphere Tower & Thrill Rides

At 1,149 feet (more than 100 stories), this is the tallest free standing observation tower in the U.S. and provides terrific views of the Las Vegas Valley from it's Observation Deck. Also on the tower is the "Let it Ride High Roller Coaster", the world's highest, at the 909-foot mark of the tower. The "Big Shot" shoots thrill seekers 160 feet into the air to the peak of the 192 foot mast extending like a needle from the top of the tower and then lets them free fall back on to the platform. Open Sunday-Thursday 10:00am-12:00am and Friday & Saturday 10:00am- 1:00am Adults $5.00, $4.00 for children (must be 48" tall for both rides).

Treasure Island

In Buccaneer Bay, located in front of the hotel, you can see an outdoor eight-minute battle between the pirate ship Hispaniola and the British frigate HMS Britannia. Complete with sinking ship, thrilling pyrotechnics, and huge masts that snap and fall into the sea, these battles take place daily every 90 minutes starting at 4:00pm and continue until 11:30pm, weather permitting. Try to arrive at least half an hour early to get a good viewing spot as it can get very crowded. Free. Housed in a mock Moorish Castle, Mutiny Bay is an 18,000 square foot amusement center for kids which includes an arcade, video, games and electronically simulated games. Mystere is a version of the famed "Cirque du Soliel" Circus. This wonderful show is geared somewhat towards adults and older children. Be aware that younger children may become frightened by the magnificent but moody costumes and set.
